Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Vivek University

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Vivek University is a faculty–student–expert body established under the guidelines of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, to foster a vibrant culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and start-up development on campus. It acts as a platform to integrate and streamline all innovation-promotion and entrepreneurship-support activities of the university throughout the year.

Vision and Mission

The IIC envisions a dynamic local innovation ecosystem that nurtures creative ideas and translates them into socially relevant solutions, products, and start-ups contributing to national development.

Its mission is to encourage students and faculty to systematically engage in ideation, design thinking, problem-solving, proof-of-concept development, and pre-incubation activities with strong industry and community linkages.

Objectives

  • To promote innovation, start-up culture, and entrepreneurial mindset among students and faculty across all disciplines.
  • To organize regular activities such as workshops, idea competitions, hackathons, bootcamps, and innovation challenges as per IIC activity calendars and self-driven initiatives.
  • To facilitate mentoring, pre-incubation and incubation support, and linkages with industry, incubation centres, and innovation agencies for nurturing promising ideas.
  • To enhance the university’s performance in national innovation initiatives and rankings such as ARIIA, NIRF, QS-GAUGE, etc., by strengthening the institutional innovation ecosystem.

Functions

  • Conduct quarterly innovation and entrepreneurship-related events including expert talks, panel discussions, exhibitions, and field visits to start-ups and industries.
  • Create and update an institutional innovation portal or webpage to showcase innovative projects, start-ups, IPR outputs, and success stories of students and faculty.
  • Build a mentor pool comprising entrepreneurs, investors, alumni, and domain experts to guide student teams through idea validation, prototyping, and business model development.
  • Coordinate with internal cells, bodies, and centres (IQAC, Research Cell, Incubation Centre, EDC, IPR Cell, Schools/Departments) to ensure convergence of innovation-related policies, activities, and documentation for NAAC and other agencies.

Outcomes and Benefits

Through its continuous activities, the IIC helps create a campus-wide culture where students gain exposure to real-world problem-solving, innovation challenges, and entrepreneurial pathways beyond conventional placements.

It strengthens industry–academia collaboration, improves the university’s innovation profile, and provides tangible pathways for students and faculty to convert ideas into prototypes, patents, and start-ups.
